Black Girls Rock! was an award show/program, which aired last night on BET basically celebrating Black Girls who Rock. I commend the creator of the show. It did a great job of showcasing strong, powerful black women and celebrating their achievements. I even felt a little better about myself while I was watching it. HAHA
My favorite performances were Keri Hilson- Breaking Point
Artists are often just that....artistic. They may have talents in more than one area of expertise, such as music, clothing, production...etc etc. Most recently Kanye West has produced his movie, Runaway, which I still havent brought myself to watch yet...I mean I get that he is a revolutionary in the music world and blah blah blah blah, but I just get the impression that its gonna be a 30 minute music video...and I'm not intrigued. But I'll get around to it.
Anyways, Erk the Jerk, (he sings the song 'I Just Wanna F*ck You Right Here') also has a history of producing. He has produced the last two videos for his "pre-album" EP. I really liked his short film out entitled "The Perfect Mistake."Although it's concept was similar to Drake's "Find your Love" video, I really like it. I'm no cinematography expert, but I like what I see. I mean, the talent lies in the fact that he produced it himself, which to me in pretty dope. I'm also loving his other video 'Anything'. Gotta love the diversity of girls in the vid. #teamdarkskin -_- haha just playin. But seriously, check out both videos!
Aston Martin Music- Rick Ross ft Christette Michelle and Drake
I actually lovveeee this song! The video was cool too, I think I have said before how I love that whole Rick Ross feel of being in the car with my man "listening to As ton Mar tin music, music"
The only thing I didnt like about this video was that in the beginning, the little dark nappy headed girl is hella negative towards child Rick Ross and the lil mixed cutie with curly hair is supportive and tells him he can do anything. I'm not tryna look too much into it, but those little things do have the potential to affect people's perceptions....#imjustsayin.
Whip my hair- Willow Smith
I love this video! I think Willow Smith is adorable. And I am also glad that the song reaches such a large audience, its not just for little kids. The Smith family is just bananas!
Black and Yellow- Wiz Khalifa
I kept hearing about this song, but I didnt listen to it until today. The song is cool, and Wiz looks pretty cute with the fro. He is just so damn skinny!
I would just like to reiterate how great Drake's So Far Gone mixtape is. It never gets old...maybe because it never got the radio play that Thank Me Later is getting.
I had actually wanted to mention this early, but Que (member of Day26) proposed to Dawn (Dirty Money) on Twitter...and I guess she said yes. IDK, but thats a little too corny for my taste lol SMH
Seems like celebs these days are searching for a way to make themselves edgier these days
Here goes Rihanna, rocking the cassie haircut...i think Rih Rih rocks it the best tho. 7/27/09 UPDATE: Rihanna apparently didnt cut her hair just for kiks, she cut it for a photoshoot that will appear in Vogue magazine along with that Black Barbie spread.
