dating in the dark

So, Dating in the Dark is one of the many dating reality shows on television, but this one is a lil different. At first you meet people in a little mixer, but you meet them in complete darkness and you get to peer into a little bit of their lives ( that part kinda like room raiders..sometimes its their houses they get to invade, sometimes their cars, etc etc). There are 3 guys and 3 girls and in addition to choosing a date, you also get a date with the person you are said to be the most compatible with, and you finally get one more date with the person of your choice...for a total of 3 dates. And before you finally get to see your "dream guy/girl" that you have chosen based on the "connection" you feel with the person, you describe to a professional artist how you imagine your girl/guy to look like. And then comes the moment of truth.....you are shown to you guy/girl while he/she is in the dark and then vice versa. And then from there you decide whether or not you want to meet up with that person in the end...

WHEW! yes, i know lonnggg explanation, but I just want to set the scene before I explain why this show brings my brother and I comic relief every Monday night. This show is supposed to show people that not everyone in this world is superficial, that it is actually possible to like someone's personality so much, that you can bypass their looks. However, from what I have seen, the show does almost the exact opposite. lmao! There was this one girl that didnt really like her guy and then she seem him and was like "Oh, Maybe we had a greater connection than we thought!".....LMAO can you spell shallow?! haha not to mention that all of the black girls on this show have been left high and dry lol..But I have to say, I can't really blame the people. There are just some people that have really cool personalities but you simply arent attracted to them, I dont know if that makes me a shallow person or not or if its just the "ugly truth". My brother and I get a kick out of the faces people make when what they see in front of them is definitely NOT what they expected or when they dont show up at all =/ They are so "confused" when the really like someone but find out that the person doesnt have their ideal body type or they use that old line "thats just not the kind of person I see myself with" ...and SMH at the people who reach out to someone who is not their ideal type just to find themselves alone at the end! lol but it always makes good tv when both people have a connection and both people find each other attractive...ahhh l'amouurrrrr!! <3
Welp, all I can say is looks aren't everything, this show can expose those gorgeous people who dont have gorgeous personalities and those not so gorgeous people who have hearts of gold...anyways on this show things can get pretty interesting..lol check it out

Track History has been made!

Yesterday history was made and Usain Bolt became the fastest human being who has everrrrr lived!

He set the new 100 meter record which is now 9.58!!!!!!!


This may not seem like big news to some...but hey i run track..so its kind of exciting. I mean no one has run as fast of this guy....ever....in the history of life haha...this ish is just BANANASSSSSS!

The weekend is gone...playtime over

Yeaaaa..its Monday again....FYI .....i hate Mondays, anyways..I had a fab weekend with my girls...among the other things we did this weekend, we went to the Americas Most Wanted tour...aka a lil Wayne concert haha. The concert was coo, but it was kind of dissapointing that Drake wasn't there...and there was no singers...and as previously stated, I'm an R&B girl haha...and im mad that Jeremih, Omarion, and 50 Cent were at the concert in LA the night before. But hey, like I said all in all the concert was coo....and we were able to get better seats and the lil teenage girl who was dancing like she was on E right next to us added a lil comic relief. "You're pretty....for a dark-skinned girl"

LOL..ohh yess i have heard this phrase before...Hearing those words is like receiving a low blow. It's like someone has just brought you up,just to put you back down again..as if the rest of the world doesn't already idolize lighter skin. And the thing is they probably don't even realize they are doing it. When someone dishes out a comment like that it implies that dark-skinned girls aren't pretty at all...that you are an exception to a well known rule and i take offense to that. As a dark-skinned young woman, that phrase isn't uncommon for me to hear...I can't be the most beautiful girl a guy has ever seen, but I have to be the most beautiful DARK girl a guy has ever seen. And I really don't want this to be about dark skinned black girls vs. the light skinned black girls...because I've been present at arguments on that very subject..and things can get pretty ugly. But, I digress..I think beauty can be found in all women, all different types of colors, shapes, and sizes. Its just hard sometimes when I turn on the radio and all i hear is
- "I like her long-hair thick red bone...."- Drake
- "I came wit my girl but I still don't care, Light skin sexy wit some real long hair- too short"

I know there are more, just cant think of them at the moment. And its not that I can't enjoy these songs..but thats besides the point..im just trying to make a statement. And the fact of the matter is, its not just blacks that place lighter skinned people on a pedestal...its a world wide phenomenon that happens in every culture (except for white America who likes to tan haha). In farming based societies, the darker people are the ones who work in the fields while the lighter ones are the richer ones who stay/work inside. This admiration also goes back to the use of the terms house nigga/ field nigga. I usually don't like to rant about this type of stuff, but I came across an article by Tameka Foster
(if you dont know who she is , dont trip...shes just Ushers ex-wife lol). Anyways she talks about her plight as a dark-skinned girl and how the stigmas placed on darker skinned people come from within our society as black people.

I recently came across this article which was titled Wealthy men give women more orgasms. Now at first I'm thinking...is this some kind of a joke? I look above the title and see that it says this is "science news". Im laughing, but I continue to read on..the very first line says "Scientists have found that the pleasure women get from making love is directly linked to the size of their partner’s bank balance." LMAO SMFH...what is this nonsense?! The author goes on to say "The study is certain to prove controversial, suggesting that women are inherently programmed to be gold-diggers." .....mhmmm you got that right!! I mean c'mon...how can you say that the richer a man is, the more pleasure a women will get. I can bet there are plenty of trophy wives not getting that much pleasure at alll haha. (if you have never seen it, Living Single is almost like the original Girlfriends lol).. one of my fave old shows...with one of my fave couples..Maxine Shaw and Kyle Barker. Their relationship was unconventional, yet poetic in a way...people who try so hard to hate each other..but cant stand being apart from each other. I was watching one of my fave episodes this morning, where Kyle is celebrating the big 3-0 and Max tries to help him celebrate it...hilarious. Who knows if a relationship like theirs is probable in the real world....are there couples actually like that? hmmm i wonder...I would hope so..maybe only women find that type of relationship attractive..I always ponder at how men see the world vs how women see it. One of my new fave indulgences is a blog titled NakedWithSocksOn. Its a relationship blog written from a man's point of view...a black man at that. LOL, its a black woman's dream...diving into the mind of a man..seeing how he sees the world. His posts are witty and insightful, and i have merely begun to read all his posts inspired by experiences from his everyday life! Let the exploring begin...lol...stay tuned..

Now I love music, the way it sounds in my car, the lyrics that say what I can't, and the beats that make me smile. In fact I can appreciate any type of music. (I may have been quoted as saying I don't like country music but I will admit to belting out "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood from time to time) But its just something about that R&B that I can't get enough of...needless to say I love crooners....Trey Songz, Joe, Tyrese, Raphael Saddiq, Jagged Edge, Musiq, Lloyd...and the list goes on =].
