How will I Know?

I dont think I can appropriately describe how much I love old school Whitney Houston. Corny as it may sound, I love songs like 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' and todays throwback 'How Will I Know'

"How will I know if he really loves me?
I say a prayer with every heartbeat.
fall in love whenever we meet.
I'm asking you
'cause you know about these things.
How will I know if he's thinking of me?
I try to phone
but I'm too shy - can't speak."

R.I.P MJ

Today marks the one year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death. I was looking back at my old blog posts and I was surprised to find that I did not blog about his death last year. I guess it was when my blog was just starting. Anyways, I dont care what anyone says about Michael Jackson, he was a musical genius and his songs will remain classics forever. I remember, as kids, my little brother and I would always dance to this "Bad" video that my mom bought for us. It had a bunch of music videos and performances from that album.  No one ever thought the King of Pop would actually die. SMH He is greatly missed.

Some of my favorite MJ songs include:
1. Liberian Girl
2. Bad
3. Who's Loving You
4. P.Y.T
5. The Way You Make Me Feel

Long live the King.

my failed attempt

at a DIY Chanel tank.

I found the idea Here. It was supposed to look like this:

Here is how mines turned out.
1st of all I had to learn how to draw the Chanel sign.

It turned out to be harder to draw it on a tank then on the napkin lol.

I ripped it a little to give it some edge =/
Maybe I'll wear it..maybe not..who knows

Those Girls Are Wild!

One of my daily blog reads is ThoseGirlsAreWild.com . It is from that website, that I got my previous post about getting over your ex.
You might recognize the girl on the right. She used to be 'Hazel' on Degrassi.   Anyways, visit their blog if you want a good read..not to mention that they were cool enough to list my blog on their list of cool blogs! Woo Hoo! =]

"smiley faces after all of her phrases"

LMAO

"..either she the one, or Im caught in the Matrix"
" shawty just text me, say she wanna sex me LOL smiley face.."

Just a couple a songs that deal with the art and etiquette of text messaging...in specific..text messaging between the opposite sex. Its funny because just the other day me and my girls were talking about texting etiquette. We all do it. Girls and boys alike. If you are with your friends and a girl or a boy texts you..the following questions/statement may ensue...
  • Do I wait to respond and if so, how long?
  • Should I add an 'lol' or an 'lmao'
  • Would a ' ;] ' face be too much?
  • Hmm, even tho we are having a convo..this statement/question doesnt require a response.
  • Should I even bother replying to this person?
  • Are exclamation points necessary?
  • Well, what should I reply back?
  • I'll text this person later
  • Would it be weird if I called back instead?
  • Ugh the person is not texting back. Did he/she get my text? Should I text again.
  • Should I text him/her first?
  • Why do I always have to text him/her first?

Obviously since I am female, these examples have a female bias to them. But although boys and girls probably have similar dilemmas when it comes to texting...I have always wondered what goes through guys minds when they receive a text from a girl, whether they like them, dont like them, or see them as just a friend. There are times when I have gotten texts...or not gotten texts..and thought to myself "What in the heck is that guy thinking?!"

AT&T has reported that 67% of texters use messaging to flirt. 68% have sent a love note via text.
They also report that:  82% of texters would respond immediately or as quick as possible to a text message from a romantic interest and 40 % of texters who are in a relationship or dating consider text messaging to play a significant role in their relationship  hmmm interesting....

Anyways just stating one of the things that, at least me and my friends, ponder in life. Actually, it would be nice to receive a phone call once in awhile. =]

What do you guys think about texting etiquette? Is it different for guys and girls?

I'll ask 21 questions, and they all about us

follow your dreams

When your'e a kid, it seems like dreams come so easily. You dream about become a fire fighter, or a fashion designer. You dream about your dream girl or guy and maybe even your dream wedding. You dream about becoming the next Kobe Bryant or Usain Bolt. As children, dreams seem so attainable. Our school teachers feed us that whole concept about the "American Dream." If we work hard and do what we are told, we will get to where we want to go. But, that is not always true. Sometimes life throws you curve balls and you get off track or you loose faith in your dreams. You deem them as impossible, or non-realistic. Why is it so easy for children to believe in their dreams? Does the world take that much of a toll on us as young adults, that we trade our dreams in for "realistic", everyday jobs that fall into the norm, numb drum everyday life. Now, don't get me wrong, as a young adult I do realize that some dreams aren't realistic. The people we idolize are the way they are because they have been given gifts, God-given talents. I think our goal in life is just to find what our talent is. For me, finding my dream seems to be a more daunting task than actually making it a reality. I want to do so many things with my life, but I feel like I should have a focus. Is having a focus necessary?

♥ I want to be a photographer. I love the idea that one picture can capture an emotion, a feeling, and can tell a story. Like the cliched saying goes "A picture is worth 1000 words."

♥  I want to make my own clothes. I've been sketching clothes and making designs since my freshman year of highschool. Either that or be involved with something to do with graphic design or fashion.

♥ I want to model. Now I know, that sounds silly, but I just want to be the focus of a photo-shoot for something or the other. Most of the time I've been the girl behind the camera, which I enjoy. But, sometimes it's nice when someone actually wants to take your picture.

♥ I wanna run fast...real fast. Im on the track team and its my last year. Most people who know me think that track is a waste of my time. But I love it. I'm a hurdler and a triple jumper, and any coach that has ever seen me practice cant deny that I have potential. I know that I can do big things with it.

♥ I want to write. I have love to read and write since I was a kid. It comes natural to me. I've always dreamed of writing for a magazine. A teenage magazine like Seventeen or Teen Vogue, or a "everything magazine like Vibe.

♥ I want to create stuff. Yes, I know, the phrase is ambiguous. But I just like creating things...logos, collages, retouching photos, greeting cards, sketches...anything. I've liked "arts and crafts"  since I can remember and having a computer makes it that much easier to have the ability to create at my fingertips.

♥ I want to direct music videos. Whenever I listen to a song on my ipod, i can set a scene in my mind and picture how I feel the music video should be. I mean I'm sure a lot of people do that, but creating music video concepts is just something I have always wanted to do.

Those are most of my dreams in a nutshell. I feel like remembering your dreams are important and for me, stating them like this, here, is the first step to making them come true. This summer I hope to make some progress. Wish me luck!

Condoms with teeth? OUCH

Its not what you think. This is not designed to be used to fufill some sick fantasy. It was designed to fight rape in South Africa. "Rape-axe", the name given to the condom, is currently being distributed in various cities in South Africa, where World Cup soccer games are taking place. Its basically a female condom, and once its lodged on a man, only a doctor can take it off. It hurts, and the guy cant pee when its on, ANDD if he tries to take it off, it will clasp even tighter!! The creator of this condom hopes to sell em for $2 a pop. not bad.
On one hand this product is horrible for unplanned endeavors but on the other hand, South Africa is said to have one of the highest rape rates in the world. I guess this is just something that might deter those ODB's and make them think twice.

Some critics argue that this is not helpful at all.

"the device constantly reminds women of their vulnerability...It not only presents the victim with a false sense of security, but psychological trauma,"

I kind of disagree. I think it's better than doing nothing. If you know being raped is something you may have to be concerned about, taking some precautions cant hurt. Although it may very well remind young women that they are vulnerable, that doesnt necessarily mean that the reminder may be detrimental. The solution to rape really should start with the mentality of the men, however, I think that whatever women can do to protect themselves, they should do.

KNOCK-OFF Greys

If you know anything about me, you should know I'm cheap. So if I can get away with wearing a knock-off, I will probably do it. My roomie did a post about Grey Ants awhile ago hereand they probably run around $260..more or less...BUT you can get knock offs at URBAN OUTFITTERS FOR UNDER 20! or HERE on ebay =]

can i put a lil peer pressure on you

"Can I put a little peer pressure on you
Are u ready, cause I'm ready,
Can I put a little peer pressure on you
Cause I know you want it, And I need it"

Do
es anyone remember the "Peer Pressure" song by Pretty Ricky?

That song is sooo out of pocket! HA HA
"most boys only want one thang, so let me ask you something.."
O wow. You wanna know the most out of pocket thing....its still on my ipod.-__- #dontjudgeme haha

They recently had a post about Diddy Riese. Just about all my friends are from SOCAL and I keep hearing about this place. It looks pretty delicious to me! Makes me want to make that move to Westwood just to get some!!

THAT LOOKS SO BOMB!

moooovviiiesss

So I've actually seen a lot of movies lately but lets start out with two.
AWAY WE GO

That's the first movie. Its about a couple who finds out they are pregnant. The parents are moving away from the couple so they go on this quest to find the perfect place to raise their new family. I really liked the movie. I thought it was sweet, not to mention hilarious. I dont know, sometimes dry humor is the best kind, the kind that comes outta nowhere. Its one of those movies that has comedy but also implements a tone of seriousness to it.

the second movie
The Family Man

This is one of those Scrooge type of Christmas movies where it's Christmas time and the main character is all alone and someone comes and shows him an alternate life. His little "wake up call" does not necessarily come about because he is a mean person but he because he is this playboy, who is always consumed with work and has no real substance in his life. I know, it is tempting to have that "F*ck b*tches, get money" mentality...but for how long?  Anyways  I thought this movie was cool. I felt for the main guy, and could identify with him..and Don Cheadle's random appearances were funny.

SMH I need to see a recent movie...like SUMMER 2010!

6.18.2010

heel. toe.

I need some more heels in my life. I dont care if I am already tall. Every girl looks like more of a bad b*tch in heels anyways. (usually.) ((in my opinion.))

I'd rather be single than...

I just read this funny post about a guy who decided to prove to himself that he wasnt avoiding love, but waiting for the right person by writing down a list of reasons why he would rather be single. It's funny because you usually get posts about people listing all the cons of being single...you know. The lonely nights, being the third wheel, having all couple friends..etc etc. Anyways..here is the list that he posted.

**I’d rather be single than be with a woman who’s only interested in what I can do for her, instead of what we can do for each other. <-- I agree. Its all about give and take

**I’d rather be single than settle down with a woman who I’m not sure I could be faithful to. <-- I'm sure although some women will snicker, this is a very valid point.
**I’d rather be single than embrace a relationship that has absolutely no chance of developing into something serious. <-- II cant agree completely with this one. I'm still a young girl, enough said.
**I’d rather be single than fall for someone who causes me to pick up bad habits. <-- haha very true, its funny how the more you hang out with someone, they more you start to act like they do, and vice versa.
**I’d rather be single than get deep with someone who lacks qualities like drive, ambition and compassion. <-- three very admirable traits!
**I’d rather be single than spend time with someone who carries a different life perspective on things like religion, marriage and family. <-- hmm...there are some concrete things that you just cant compromise on (like whether on not you want children)..but i believe that sometimes you can meet someone halfway (like I want 5 kids , well i want 3...Ok lets have 4 haha)
**But most importantly, I’d rather be single than get married to someone who makes me drive a minivan … even if she does make it look cool like the “swagger wagon” in the video below. It’s just not happening. <--  now this is just silly =] but i somewhat agree, i dont know if I am trying to drive a minivan either.

for those who thought Lauryn couldnt make a comeback

you were WRONG!
Here she is at recent performance, June 13th to be exact in Santa Rosa.
She looks good, a lil weird, but good nonetheless. And her voice sounds on point.
Now we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
whew, welcome back Lauryn, we missed you!

haircut

=/ ugh wtv ill work wit it...even though I look about 16!...at least my bangs are back

FYI, ITS NOT THAT SHORT IN THE BACK
you know how when you go to the shop they always try to give u a bump..the bump brings me down from 16 to 12!

Im a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world

"laughing plastic, its fantastic!" SIKE
Ugh, one thing I can't stand are FAKE people.
Like, how do you sleep at night knowing for a fact you dont like someone, but smiling and lying to their face in order to reap the benefits. If you dont like someone, then just dont like them! Now don't get me wrong, every human being deserves a certain level of respect, so I can be cordial to everyone. But why spend all of that effort and time when you know you dont like someone, to go out of your way to try and be that person's friend. I dont know, I guess thats just how some people operate, but I wasn't raised like that. I try to be cordial to everyone I meet, and if you know me, I'm usually the first person to give someone the benefit of the doubt, and I believe in second chances. It just sucks when you vouch for someone, or put faith in someone and they just prove yo *ss WRONG.
Its kinda like that old smiling faces song by the Undisputed Truth...

"Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes
They don't tell the truth, uh
Smiling faces, smiling faces
Tell lies and I got proof
Beware, beware of the handshake
That hides the snake
I'm telling you beware
Beware of the pat on the back
It just might hold you back
Jealousy (jealousy)
Misery (misery)
Envy

I tell you, you can't see behind smiling faces"

CAN YA DIG IT?

I'm not trying to rant, I'm just making a statement.
In the words of Weezy

"Real n*ggas f*ck with me and I don't give a  f*ck who dont"
